The Organisation

Tornos has come of age and has grown immensely, maintaining a child-like enthusiasm even in its 31st year. We firmly believe that it is ‘passion’ – and only passion, that has driven us through the years and continues to fuel our journey. How else can one explain our survival in the absence of tourist traffic in our region during the early years of our establishment? We persevered, holding onto our hopes for a brighter future with gleaming eyes. Passion has enabled us to achieve success beyond our wildest dreams, and Tornos truly exemplifies a success story born of passion.

At Tornos, we dedicated ourselves to constant learning. We learned to deliver nothing but the best, to surpass expectations, and understood that business is rooted in commitment. We absorbed how to instill a sense of passion and dedication in our team and suppliers. We recognised that there is no ultimate benchmark in service delivery, and that tourism is fundamentally about emotions. Above all, we learned never to say ‘no,’ and to continually embrace  the process of learning, regardless of how much we grow.

Today, Tornos serves as a benchmark for many, known for our flawless services, exceptional quality, and adherence to the highest international standards in tourism. This achievement was not an overnight success; rather, it is the result of a steadfast and dedicated journey. Occasionally, we reflect on what we have left behind, only to realise that we carry forward the same enthusiasm we had on opening day, our commitment to excellence, and the pride we aim to instill in those around us. We have brought along our spirit of innovation, our teamwork, our faith in our clients to whom we owe so much, our humble demeanor, and our ‘never say die’ attitude. As we continue our journey with the same passion, we remain more cautious, as many now view us as an institution rather than just a business.

The meaning of travel has changed significantly over the years. What once focused solely on sightseeing has now transformed into ‘sightexperiencing’ and often into experimentation. At Tornos, we recognised this shift early on and adapted our operations from solely catering to ‘leisure and pleasure’ to ‘travelling for experience and learning.’ In the early years of this paradigm shift, we included experiential tours as a core part of our offerings, allowing us to stand out from the crowd and provide a competitive edge. This is evident in our Heritage Walk, introduced well before anyone could envision walking tours in India, and our Culinary Walk, which came at a time when few appreciated street food as a potential attraction for foreign tourists. Many more unique products followed, each refined to the last detail, leading to recognition from publications such as Conde Nast Traveller, Lonely Planet, and National Geographic Traveller. Our Heritage and Culinary Walks have even garnered the title of India’s No. 1 walking tours.

Every year, we at Tornos introduce at least three new, well-researched products in various areas of interest. Whether it’s history, gastronomy, embroidery, or music, we have crafted some of the finest experiences that offer our guests something more than their peers on the same trail. Our endeavor has always been to provide exclusive, well-designed tours backed by thorough research to meet the needs of today’s informed and discerning traveler.

We step into our 32nd year, full of grit, optimism and with even more determination. Be sure when you are with Tornos!
