The Chhat (छत) - the terrace

A very special place at Tornos that has evolved into a vibrant spot for cultural and culinary experiences – we fondly call it ‘Chhat’. ‘Chhat’, which simply means an open terrace or rooftop, initially became our go-to hangout for casual chats and after-work get-togethers, helping us save on venue costs for small gatherings.

Over time, ‘Chhat’ (located on the 2nd floor, accessible by a comfortable staircase) has blossomed into a popular venue for hosting cultural events in a relaxed, home-like atmosphere, always complemented by a delicious home-cooked dinner.

Our evenings at ‘Chhat’ come alive with a diverse range of pre-planned activities, including interpreted Kathak dance performances, live Ghazal or Qawali recitals, engaging talks, exclusive trunk shows featuring embroidered Chikan or Zardozi garments, film and documentary screenings, book reading sessions, and even cooking demonstrations. These evenings always include drinks followed by a satisfying home-cooked dinner – a Table d’Hôte pre-set menu prepared with passion by individuals, often featuring home-style cooking or dishes from Coquina.

Recently, ‘Chhat’ has also gained popularity as a pop-up open kitchen, extending the experience of Coquina and offering exclusive home-cooked meals through our unique ‘Guestaurant’ concept. ‘Guestaurant’, sometimes referred to as an ‘Anti-Restaurant’ or a ‘Supper Club’, offers a more personal dining experience than a commercial restaurant, centered around the theme of exclusive cooking driven by passion rather than profit.

In essence, ‘Chhat’ provides an ideal setting to spend your evenings, enjoying interactive entertainment, evening drinks, and a delightful dinner in a comfortable, home-like ambiance.
