Calligraphy, a visual art form rooted in writing, involves the design and skillful execution of lettering using various instruments like broad-tipped pens and brushes. It’s often described as the art of expressively and harmoniously shaping signs. While traditional calligraphy is found in historical inscriptions, modern calligraphy extends to functional designs and even abstract fine art.
During the Mughal era in India, calligraphy flourished, evident in the intricate inscriptions adorning almost all Mughal-era monuments.
We are excited to offer a unique five-hour introductory calligraphy experience in association with ‘Ilm-o-Hunar,’ an organization dedicated to promoting and reviving this art form. This step-by-step session will guide you in creating Urdu or Arabic calligraphy using contemporary tools such as sketch pens, fountain pens, and pencils on various surfaces like paper, ceramic plates, walls, metals, and stones.
This hands-on session aims to provide a delightful introduction to calligraphy and might even inspire you to delve deeper into this art through Ilm-o-Hunar’s comprehensive 15-day course (this 15 days course is not a part of our day experience).
