Ayodhya Mokshdayni Walk
(Every day except for some fair days and during festival restrictions. Cheek in advance)
This ancient Indian city, the birthplace of Lord Rama and the setting for the epic Ramayana, is considered one of India’s seven most sacred cities according to the Puranas and features prominently in many Hindu scriptures. Today, Ayodhya remains a significant religious center, rich with historical importance and numerous sacred temples. The Atharvaveda describes it as a divinely built and prosperous city, akin to paradise. Interestingly, Ayodhya has been a place where several religions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Islam, have flourished at different times, leaving their traces even today. Jainism recognizes Ayodhya as the birthplace of five Tirthankaras, including Adinath, the first.
Like Lucknow, Ayodhya exemplifies the Ganga-Jamuni culture of secularism. A notable example is the Hanuman Garhi temple, which was constructed on land donated by the Nawab of Awadh.
Our “Mokshdayni Walk” in Ayodhya, starting from Kanchan Bhawan, offers an exclusive experience curated by Tornos. This tour explores the essence of life along the River Saryu, introducing you to the vibrant history and religious interpretations of this ancient Hindu city. Beyond being the birthplace of Lord Rama, Ayodhya holds unique stories and deep reasoning behind every home, ghat, and temple. From Jhumki Ghat, named after a devoted worshipper of Sita, to Sahast Dhara, believed to reveal those who falsely swear by the river Saryu, the walk is filled with fascinating insights. Our tour also includes a visit to the Nageshwarnath Temple before concluding at the ghat for the Saryu Aarti.
